Wenrui Zhao, M.A.

Forschungsschwerpunkt

Wenrui Zhao is a doctoral candidate in History at Columbia University. Drawing on her background in art history, she works on the intersection between art, science and medicine. For her dissertation project “Dissecting Sight: Eye Surgery and Vision in Early Modern Europe”, she investigates the ways in which the eye was studied, eye diseases were treated, and the knowledge of the eye was transmitted during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries in Europe. She is particularly interested in the production and communication of medical knowledge through images and objects. Wenrui Zhao is currently working at the Max-Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
